ASH carried out a landscape and visual impact assessment for Gass Wind Farm
ASH were employed by SgurrEnergy on behalf of WilloWind Energy to provide landscape assessment and advice for Gass windfarm near Glenluce in Dumfries and Galloway in April 2012. ASH provided input at scoping stage and subsequent landscape and visual assessment for the project.

What we did
Following initial review of the likely landscape and visual effects, ASH were asked to carry out a design exercise to revise the layout in order to minimise visual effects from key receptors. The design exercise involved careful consideration of how the project would combine with a significant number of other built and consented developments within the adjacent landscape area. ASH were able to propose an improved layout and this revised proposal was then taken forward.
Cumulative assessment comprised a key part of the LVIA for this project due to the existing baseline framework of development. Other key activities involved a detailed visual assessment of properties and routes and a detailed local landscape character study. ASH also undertook liaison with Dumfries and Galloway Council and SNH to agree the scope of assessments and viewpoints.
The LVIA was completed in 2014 and the wind farm was consented by Dumfries and Galloway Council in August 2015.
