What we did
In addition to our involvement in the development of medium and large scale hydro schemes throughout Scotland, ASH has also been appointed to provide environmental advice on a number of micro hydroelectric schemes (under 1 Megawatt).
Land owners / estates recognised the economic benefit that renewable energy can bring to help sustain and develop the value of their estate, for the benefit of both the owners and the local community.
ASH's input into the development of micro hydroelectric schemes has varied according to the requirements of the individual clients, including:
Advice on statutory requirements
Consultations with statutory and other bodies
Provision of specialist sub consultants as required (ecologists, archaeologists, fisheries consultants, hydrologists, noise consultants and architects)
Provision of in-house specialist advice on landscape and visual design, planning, landscape mitigation and environmental enhancements
Research and site survey
Environmental / scoping review of hydroelectric schemes
Development of hydroelectric scheme design and detailed design of the various scheme components
Environmental Impact Assessment
Preparation of presentation material for consultations / public exhibitions
Preparation of Environmental Appraisal report and CAR licence
